What is the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC)?
The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC) members are the elected, grassroots leadership of the Maryland Democratic Party. They are not legislators or board members; they are the frontline workers and the backbone of the party, dedicated to building a strong local organization and getting Democrats elected up and down the ballot. There are 2 members (1 female/nonbinary and 1 male/nonbinary) representing each Maryland legislative district in Montgomery County, and 8 members (4 female/nonbinary and 4 male/nonbinary) representing the county at-large, with a total of 26 members. You can vote for your district's MCDCC members and for at-large MCDCC members on your 2026 Democratic primary election ballot (election day June 23rd, vote-by-mail, or early voting June 11-18).

Central Committee members are tasked with:
-
Party Building: Fundraising, recruiting candidates for office, and, crucially, recruiting and motivating volunteers to ensure campaign success.
-
Filling Vacancies: The Committee is responsible for filling vacancies in elected office (due to death or resignation) and ensuring there are Democratic nominees on the ballot.
-
State Leadership: Members automatically serve on the State Central Committee, voting on State Party issues and attending semi-annual meetings.
-
Appointments: The Committee recommends appointments for the local County Board of Elections and other state/county boards.
-
Grassroots Organizing: Leading canvassing operations, phone banking, voter registration drives, and distributing literature.
-
Community Engagement: Increasing party visibility at public fairs, festivals, and community events.
-
Electoral Strategy: Organizing precincts and executing the tasks necessary for Democratic victories.
